Question

Solve: 0.6a +0.2a = 0.4 a + 8

Sum

Solution

0.6a +0.2a = 0.4 a + 8

⇒ `6/10"a" + 2/10"a" = 4/10"a" + 8/1`

⇒`("6a + 2a")/10 = "4a + 80"`

⇒ 6a + 2a = 4a + 80

⇒ 6a + 2a - 4a = 80

⇒ 4a = 80

⇒ a = `80/4 = 20`

∴ a = 20
