Solve the following.
If 14 chairs cost ₹ 5992, how much will have to be paid for 12 chairs?
Solution
Cost of 14 chairs = ₹ 5,992
∴ Cost of 1 chair = ₹ `5992/14` = ₹ 428
⇒ Cost of 12 chairs = ₹ 428 × 12 = ₹ 5,136
Thus, the amount of money to be paid for 12 chairs is ₹ 5,136.
