Question
State any five physical properties of a non-metal.
Solution
Physical properties of a non-metal :
- State : Non-metals are generally gases at room temperature.
- Hardness : Non-metals are not hard (being gases). In case of solid non-metals, they are hard but brittle in nature.
- Conductivity : Non-metals are poor conductors of heat and electricity except graphite.
- Malleability : Non-metals are non-malleable, i.e., they cannot be drawn into sheets.
- Ductility: Non-metals are non-ductile, i.e., cannot be drawn into wires.
