Snell's law: The ratio of sine of the angle of incidence to the sine of angle of refraction is constant for a pair of media. This constant is called the refractive index of the second medium w.r.t the first. it is generally represented by the greek letter (${\displaystyle \mu }$)

i.e ${\displaystyle \mu }$ = ${\displaystyle \frac{\text{sin i}}{\text{sin r}}}$
