Question

State the Snell’s laws of refraction of light.

Law

Solution

Second law of refraction, i.e. `(sin i)/(sin r)` = 1μ2 or 1n2 is called Snell's Law.

The ratio of the sine of the angle of incidence to the sine of the angle of refraction is a constant for a pair of given media.

μ = `sin i/sin r`

Snell's Law

`n_1/n_2 = sinθ_2/sinθ_1`
