Question
Surabhi, Simona and Shruti started a business in a partnership by investing ₹ 60,000, ₹ 40,000 and ₹ 75,000 respectively. At the end of the year they found that they have incurred a loss of ₹ 24,500. Find that how much loss each one had to bear?
Solution
Invested by Surabhi = Rs 60,000
Invested by Simona = Rs 40,000
Invested by Shruti = Rs 75,000
Time = 1 year
Loss = Rs 24,500
Loss will be distributed to the capitals invested, in the proportion-
60,000 : 40,000 : 75,000
i.e 60 : 40 : 75
i.e 12 : 8 : 15
Now, 12 + 8 + 15 = 35
Loss incurred by Surabhi = `12/35 xx 24500`
= Rs 8,400
Loss incurred by Simona = `8/35 xx 24500`
= Rs 5,600
Loss incurred by Shruti = `15/35 xx 24500`
= Rs 10,500
