Tamil Nadu receives heavy rainfall during December - January when major areas of India experience dry conditions.
Discuss the reasons for the difference in the weather conditions of the regions mentioned above.
Solution
In most of the Indian regions during December – January, there is extreme low temperature with high pressure resulting in cold and dry conditions. On the contrary, Tamil Nadu with high temperature and low pressure attracts the north east monsoon winds from the Bay of Bengal that bring in rainfall.
