Question
The length of a rectangular field is 30 m and its diagonal is 34 m. Find the breadth of the field and its perimeter.
Solution
Length = 30 m
Diagonals = 34 m
Let the breadth of the rectangle = b m
Applying Pythagoras Theorem in triangle ABC,
We get,
AC2 = AB2 + BC2
(34)2 = (30)2 + b2
1156 = 900 + b2
1156 − 900 = b2
256 = b2
⇒ b `sqrt256` = 16 m
Perimeter = 2(l + b)
= 2(30 + 16)
= 2 × 46
= 92 m
