Question

The perimeters of two squares are in the ratio 8:15, find the ratio between the lengths of their sides.

Sum

Solution

Let the perimeter of the first square = 8x

∴ Side of the first square =`"Perimeter"/4=(8"x")/4`

and the perimeter of the second square = 15x

∴ Side of the second square =`"Perimeter"/4`

= `(15"x")/4`

Now, the ratio between the sides of the square =`(8"x")/4:(15"x")/4`

= 8 : 15
