The perimeters of two squares are in the ratio 8:15, find the ratio between the lengths of their sides.
Solution
Let the perimeter of the first square = 8x
∴ Side of the first square =`"Perimeter"/4=(8"x")/4`
and the perimeter of the second square = 15x
∴ Side of the second square =`"Perimeter"/4`
= `(15"x")/4`
Now, the ratio between the sides of the square =`(8"x")/4:(15"x")/4`
= 8 : 15
