Question
The price of a T.V. set inclusive of sales tax at the rate of 14% is Rs 30,552. Find the basic price of the T.V. set.
Solution
Let the basic price of the T.V. set be x
Rate of sales tax = 14%
Therefore, total price of the T.V. set =
Rs `("x" + ("x" xx 14)/100)`
= Rs `(114 "x")/100`
Total price ofT.V. set given= Rs 30,552
`therefore (114 "x") /100 = "Rs" 30552`
⇒ 114 x = Rs30,55,200
⇒ x = Rs `3055200/114`
⇒ x = Rs 26800
Hence, the basic price of the T.V. set = Rs 26,800
