Question
The sum of three consecutive odd natural numbers is 99. Find the numbers.
Solution
Let the three consecutive odd natural numbers be 2n + 1, 2n + 3, 2n + 5
Then, sum = 2n + 1 + 2n + 3 + 2n + 5 = 99
⇒ 6n + 9 = 99
⇒ 6n = 90
n = 15
⇒ 2n + 1 = 31, 2n + 3 = 33, 2n + 5 = 55
Thus, the 3 natural numbers are: 31, 33, 35.
