A number is as much greater than 35 as is less than 53. Find the number.
Solution
Let the number = x
According to the condition
x - 35 = 53 - x
⇒ x + x = 53 + 35
⇒ 2x = 88
⇒ x = `88/2 = 44`
∴ Number = 44
