Let the two parts be x and y.
Then, x + y = 300
Also, one part is less than the other by 48.
⇒ `(1)/(2)(300 - x) - x` = 48
⇒ 300 - 3x = 96
⇒ x = `(204)/(3)` = 68
Then,
y = 300 - 68
= 232.
