Question
The breadth of a rectangular room is 2 m less than its length. If the perimeter of the room is 14m, find it's dimensions.
Solution
Let the length of the rectangle be x
breadth = x - 2
perimeter = 2(length + breadth)
∴ 2(x + x - 2) = 14
⇒ 2x - 2 = 7
⇒ x = 4.5
∴ breadth
= 4.5 - 2
= 2.5.
