Question
The sum of two natural numbers is 70 and their difference is 10. Find the natural numbers.
Sum
Solution
Let two natural numbers = x and y
Given sum ⇒ x + y = 70 ...(i)
Difference = x − y = 10 ...(ii)
By solving Equation Simultaneously we get,
x + y = 70
x − y = 10
− + −
2y = 60
y = `60/2`
y = 30
Substituting value of y in equation (i) is we get,
x + 30 = 70
x = 40
Thus, Natural Numbers = 40 and 30.
