Solution
Let the required number be x.
Thrice the number = 3x.
Thrice the number increased by 4 = 3x + 5
Given 3x + 5 = 44
3x + 5 – 5 = 44 – 5
3x = 39
`(3x)/3 = 39/3`
x = 13
∴ The required number = 13
