Question

Tina had 20m 5cm long cloth. She cuts 4m 50cm length of cloth from this for making a curtain. How many clothes are left with her?

Sum

Solution

Length of cloth = 20m 5cm

= 20.05m

Length of cloth to make a curtain = 4m 50cm

= 4.50m

The length of cloth left with Tina will be the difference between these two

Thus the length of cloth left with her is

 20.05

– 4.50

 15.55

∴ The length of the remaining cloth left with Tina is 15.55m
