To draw a graph of 4x + 5y = 19, find y when x = 1.
Solution
The given equation,
4x + 5y = 19 ......(i)
x = 1
Substituting the value of x in equation (i), we get
4 × (1) + 5y = 19
∴ 4 + 5y = 19
∴ 5y = 19 – 4
∴ 5y = 15
∴ `"y" = 15/5`
∴ y = 3
