Question
Two identical bullets are fired one by a light rifle and another by a heavy rifle with the same force. Which rifle will hurt the shoulder more and why?
Solution
According to the conservation of momentum, the momentum of each identical bullet fired is equal to the momentum of the light rifle as well as the momentum of the heavy rifle but in opposite direction. So, the light rifle will recoil faster and hence it will hurt the shoulder more.
