Question
Two numbers are in the ratio 2:3. If their sum is 150, find the numbers
Solution
Let the two numbers be x and y.
Then Given, x + y = 150 and x : y = 2: 3
Then, the number x = `(2)/(2 + 3) "of" 150 = (2 xx 150)/(5)` = 60
And y = `(3)/(2 + 3) "of" 150 = (3 xx 150)/(5)` = 90.
