Question

Verify the additive and multiplicative inverse property for the rational numbers `(-7)/17` and `17/27`

Sum

Solution

`(-7)/17 + 7/17 = (-7 + 7)/17 = 0/17` = 0

`17/27 + (-17/27) = (17 + (-17))/27 = 0/27` = 0

Additive inverse for rational numbers verified.

`(-7)/17 xx 17/(-7) = (-7 xx 17)/(17 xx (-7))` = 1

`17/27 xx 27/17 = (17 xx 27)/(27 xx 17)` = 1

Mulplicative inverse for rational numbers verified.
