Solution
The microscopic structures found in the leaves of plants that allow the diffusion (exchange) of gases are called stomata or pores. This stomatal system is an open space or pore surrounded by two epidermal guard cells and many subsidiary cells. The cells (guard cells) control the process of closing or opening stomata.
