Question
What happens to the eye when you enter a darkened cinema hall from bright sunshine? Give reason for your answer.
Solution
When we are in the bright sun, the pupil of the eye contracts and lets in minimum light. However, when we enter a darkened cinema hall, the pupil does not immediately dilate and we are unable to see in the low-light conditions. But, after some time, the pupil opens to allow more light into the eye and we are able to see clearly.
