The direction of the AC (alternating current) reverses periodically whereas the direction of the DC (direct current) remains constant with time. The frequency of AC in India is about 50 Hz whereas of DC it is zero.
As the frequency of AC in India is :
f = 50 cycles/s
Therefore, Time Period of AC = `"T" = 1/"f" = 1/50` = 0.02 s
Directions of AC reverses after every half time period,
`"T" = 1/(50xx2) = 1/100` s
Therefore, in India AC change its direction after every 1/100 s. So, in one second AC changes its direction 100 times.
