Question
What is the function of antidiuretic hormone? Where is it produced and what stimuli increases or decreases its secretion?
Solution
Antidiuretic hormone increases the reabsorption of water in the kidney tubules. It is produced in the posterior lobe of the pituitary gland. When there is excess loss of fluid from the body or an increase in blood pressure, ADH is secreted more. When there is no loss of fluid from the body, it is secreted less.
