Question

Where are B-cells and T-cells produced in the human body? How do they differ from each other? Mention any two differences.

Short Note

Solution

B cells and T cells are the white blood cells of the immune system that are responsible for adaptive immune response in an organism. Both the cells are made in the bone marrow. B cells mature in the bone marrow while the T cells travel to the thymus and mature there.

two differences:

  • T cells are involved in cell-mediated immunity, whereas B cells are primarily responsible for humoral (antibody - related) immunity.
  • T cells create new helper and cytotoxic, while memory B cells create new antibodies.
