Question
Why is that once a person starts taking alcohol or drugs, it is difficult to get rid of this habit? Discuss it with your teacher.
Solution
Once a person begins to consume alcohol or drugs, it is tough to break the habit because he becomes addicted to them. Addiction is a psychological connection to specific consequences, such as exhilaration and a brief sense of well-being. These motivate people to take drugs/alcohol even when they are not necessary or when their use becomes self-destructive. With repeated usage, the tolerance level of the receptors in the body increases, resulting in greater doses of drugs/alcohol and addiction. Thus, the addictive potential of drugs and alcohol traps the user in a vicious cycle of regular usage from which he or she may be unable to escape.
