Question
Why is the Sinoatrial node called the pacemaker of the heart?
Solution
Although the impulse is produced by the entire neuromuscular pathway, the frequency of impulse generation is maximum in the case of the Sinoatrial node in comparison to other parts of the pathway. Hence it guides the rhythm of the heartbeat and is called the pacemaker of the heart.
