Oceans are also important resources and this can be understood by the fact that they cover a greater part of the earth's surface than the land itself. The resources which can be obtained from oceans can be of two types:

Mineral resources from oceans	Bio-resources in ocean
Thorium - used in the production of atomic energy.	Fishes like pomfret and seer fish, as well as shrimp and prawns, are sources of proteins and vitamins; therefore, they are mainly used as seafood.
Magnesium - used in the flash bulb of a camera.	Dried shrimp and Bombay duck powder are used as poultry feed and are good manure.
Potassium - the main ingredient m production of soap, glass, fertilizer.	Shells are used for the preparation of medicines, ornaments and decorative articles.
Sodium - used in the production of cloth and paper.	Fungi are used for the production of antibiotics.
Sulphate - used m making artificial silk.	Shark and codfish are used for producing edible oil rich in vitamins A, D and E.
	Sea cucumbers are used as medicine for treating cancer and tumours.
