Question

Write the observation for the following:
Excess NH4OH is added to a substance obtained by adding hydrochloric acid in silver nitrate solution.

Short Note

Solution

Silver chloride is formed on adding hydrochloric acid in silver nitrate solution. On adding excess of ammonium chloride, white ppt. gets dissolved.
\[\ce{2AgCl(s) + 2NH4OH(aq) -> Ag2O(s) + H2O(I) + 2NH4Cl(aq)}\]
