प्रश्न
Alex bought a game boy for Rs 4,784 which included a rebate of 20% and a sales tax of 15%. Find the basic price of the game boy.
उत्तर
Let the basic price be x
Rebate = 20 % of x
Rebated cost of game boy= x - 20 % of x
`= "x" - (20 "x")/100`
`= (80 "x")/100`
Sales tax= 15% of cost of game boy
`= 15/100 xx (80 "x")/100`
`= (12 x)/100`
Total cost = cost + sales tax
`= (80 "x")/100 + (12 "x")/100`
`= (92 "x")/100`
But total cost = Rs 4,784
⇒ `(92 "x")/100` = Rs 4784
⇒ x = `(4784 xx 100)/92`
⇒ x = Rs 5,200
Hence, Basic price of game boy =Rs 5,200
