प्रश्न

Anand bought an Almirah for Rs 5,135.70 which included 15% rebate on the basic price and then 6% sales tax on the remaining price. Find the basic price of the almirah.

योग

उत्तर

Let the basic price be x

Rebate = 15 % of x

Rebated oost of almirah = x - 15 % of x

`= x - (15 "x")/100`

`= (85 "x")/100`

Sales tax = 6 % of cost of almirah

`= 6/100 xx (85 "x")/100`

`= (510 "x")/10000`

Total cost = oost +sales tax

`= (85  "x")/100 + (510  "x")/10000`

`= (8500  "x" + 510  "x")/10000`

`= (9010  "x")/10000`

But total oost = Rs 5, 135.70

⇒ `= (9010  "x")/10000` = Rs 5135.70

⇒  x = `(5135.70 xx 10000)/9010`

⇒ x = Rs 5700

Hence, Basic price of washing machine= Rs 5,700
