उत्तर
The Savannah region is prone to droughts because -
- The region lies between 10° to 20° N and S latitudes, where the sun's rays at noon are never far from overhead and thus the insolation is maximum and the temperature is constantly high here.
- Distinct wet and dry seasons of relatively equal duration are found. Most of the region's annual rainfall is experienced during the wet season and very little precipitation falls during the dry season.
- A lengthy dry season and a relatively short wet season is the characteristic of Savannah region.
- Thus, in the Savannah region, the dry season becomes more severe and often drought conditions prevail during the course of the year.
