How are vitamins classified?

Vitamins are classified into two groups based on their solubility in water and in fat. They are,
- Water-soluble vitamins
- Oil or fat-soluble vitamins
1. Water-soluble vitamins: Vitamins that dissolve in water are called water-soluble vitamins.
Examples: Vitamins of B group and Vitamin C
2. Oil or fat-soluble vitamins: Vitamins that dissolve in oils or fat are called oil or fat-soluble vitamins.
Examples: Vitamin A, D, E and K.
