प्रश्न
Solve the numerical problem.
A TV tower has a height of 200 m. How much population is covered by TV transmission if the average population density around the tower is 1000/km2? (Radius of the Earth = 6.4 × 106 m)
उत्तर
Given: h = 200 m, Population density (n) = 1000/km2 = 1000 × 10–6/m2 = 10–3/m2 R = 6.4 × 106 m
To find: Population covered
Formulae: i. A = πd2 = `π(sqrt(2"Rh"))^2` = 2πRh
ii. Population covered = nA
Calculation: From formula (i),
A = 2πRh
= 2 × 3.142 × 6.4 × 106 × 200
≈ 8 × 109 m2
From formula (ii),
Population covered = nA
= 10–3 × 8 × 109
= 8 × 106
The population of 8 × 106 is covered by TV transmission.
