प्रश्न
What is a Light Emitting Diode?
उत्तर
Light-emitting diodes are specialised semiconductor diodes that emit light of a certain colour when forward biased. The construction of an LED differs from that of a conventional diode. The n-region is more highly doped than the p-region of the p-n junction. The LED p-n junction is housed in a dome-shaped transparent casing to ensure consistent light emission in all directions. Metal electrodes affixed to each side of the p-n junction function as terminals for external connectivity.
They are offered in various colors. LED is constructed to ensure that the emitted light is not absorbed by the substance.
