Oxide \[\ce{O}\] \[\ce{2^{-}}\]

Step I – Write each symbol with its valency.
Positive ion is written first
\[\ce{Cu}^{2+}\]  \[\ce{O}^{2-}\]
Step II – Interchange the valencies ignoring (+) and (−) signs.
