Notes

Purvanchal (Purvachal) Hills:

  • The easternmost Himalayan border is marked by the Brahmaputra.
  • The Himalayas curve abruptly to the south beyond the Dihang gorge, and extend along India's eastern border.
  • The Eastern highlands and mountains are sometimes referred to as the 'Purvanchal Hills' or 'Purvachal Hills'.
  • Strong sandstones, which are sedimentary rocks, make up the majority of these hills that cross the north-eastern states.
  • While some of these hills are inside India, the majority are found near the border between India and Myanmar.
  • They generally run as parallel ranges and valleys covered with thick forests.
  • The hills that make up Purvanchal Hills include the Dafla Hills, Abor Hills, Mishmi Hills, Patkai Bum Hills, Naga Hills, Manipur Hills, Mizo Hills, Tripura Hills, Mikir Hills, Garo Hills, Khasi Hills, and Jaintia Hills.
