प्रश्न

A heap of rice is in the form of a cone of base diameter 24 m and height 3.5 m. Find the volume of the rice. How much is canvas cloth required to just cover the heap?

उत्तर

Volume of rice = Volume of cone = `1/3pir^2h`

r= 12 m, h = 3.5 m

Volume  = `1/3pi xx (12)^2 xx 3.5 = 1/3 xx 22/7 xx (12)^2 xx (3.5) = 528 m^2`

The volume of rice is `528 m^3`

Area of canvas cloth = curved surface area of the cone = πrl

`l = sqrt(r^2 + h^2)`

` l = sqrt((12)^2 + (3.5)^2)`

l = 12.5 m

`Area = pirl = 22/7 xx 12 xx 12.5 = 471.42 m^2`

Area of canvas required is 471.42 m2
