प्रश्न
In a shooting competition a marksman receives Rs. 50 if he hits the mark and pays Rs. 20 if he misses it. He tried Rs. 100 shots and was paid Rs. 100. How many times did he hit the mark?
उत्तर
Let the number of times he hit the mark be x.
So, the number of times he misses it be 100 - x.
As per the given condition,
50x - 20(100 - x) = 100
⇒ 50x + 2000 + 20x = 100
⇒ 50x + 20x = 2100
⇒ 70x = 2100
⇒ x = `(2100)/(70)`
⇒ x = 30
Hence, he hit the mark 30 times.
