Prove that 2+35 is an irrational number, given that 3 is an irrational number.

To prove 2+35 is irrational, let us assume that 2+35 is rational.

2+35=ab;b0 and a and b are integers.

2b+3b=5a

3b=5a-2b

3=5a-2bb

Since a and b are integers so, 5a - 2b will also be an integer.

So, 5a-2bb will be rational which means 3 is also rational.

But we know 3 is irrational (given).

Thus, a contradiction has risen because of incorrect assumptions. 

Thus, 2+35 is irrational
