Question

3x + 23x2 + 6y2 + 2x + y2 + ______ = 5x + 7y2.

Fill in the Blanks

Solution

3x + 23x2 + 6y2 + 2x + y2 + –23x2 = 5x + 7y2.

Explanation:

Let (3x + 23x2 + 6y2 + 2x + y2) + M = 5x + 7y2

⇒ M = (5x + 7y2) – (3x + 23x2 + 6y2 + 2x + y2)

⇒ M = 5x + 7y2 – 3x – 23x2 – 6y2 – 2x – y2 ......[With –ve sign, +ve sign in the bracket will change on opening it]

⇒ M = 5x – 3x – 2x + 7y2 – 6y2 – y2 – 23x2

M = 0 + 0 – 23x2 = –23x2
