Question
A 4 cm cube is cut into 1 cm cubes. Calculate the total surface area of all the small cubes.
Solution
Edge of cube = 4cm
Volume of 4cm cube = `(4cm)^3= 64cm^2`
Edge of cube =`1cm`
Volume of 1cm cube =`(1cm)^3`
∴Total number of small cubes = `(64cm^3)/(1cm^3)=64`
∴ Total surface area of 64cm all cubes
`=64xx6xx(1cm)^2`
`=384cm^2`
