Question

A bag contains tickets numbered 11, 12, 13,..., 30. A ticket is taken out from the bag at random. Find the probability that the number on the drawn ticket is greater than 15 and a multiple of 5.

Solution

Total no. of possible outcomes = 20 {11, 12, 13, ….., 30}

E ⟶ event of getting no. greater than 15 & multiple of 5

No. of favorable outcomes = 3 {14, 21, 28}

Probability, P(E) =`"No.of favorable outcomes"/"Total no.of possible outcomes"`

P(E) =3/20
