Question

A cylinder has a diameter of 20 cm. The area of the curved surface is 100 cm2 (sq. cm). Find the volume of the cylinder correct to one decimal place.

Sum

Solution

Diameter of the cylinder = 20 cm

Hence, Radius (r) = 10 cm

Height = h cm

Volume of the cylinder = πr2h

= 227×10×10×1.6

= 22×100×1.67

= 502.857 cm3

= 502.9 cm3

or

= 227×10×10×3522

= 500 cm3
