Question

A pizza has 8 slices all equally spaced. Suppose pizza is a flat circle of radius 28 cm, find the area covered between 3 slices of pizza.

Sum

Solution

Total slices in pizza = 8

Radius of pizza = 28 cm

Angle between any 2 consecutive slices = `360^circ/8` = 45°

Area covered by 1 slice of pizza, A = `θ/360^circ xx πr^2` .......(i)

= `45^circ/360^circ xx π(28)^2`

= `1/8 xx 22/7 xx 28 xx 28`

= 11 × 28

= 308 cm2

So, Area covered by 1 slice of pizza = 308 cm2

Area covered by 3 slices of pizza = 3 × 308 = 924 cm2

Hence, the area covered between 3 slices of pizza is 924 cm2.
