Question

A survey of students was made to know which game they like. The data obtained in the survey is presented in the adjacent pie diagram. If the total number of students are 1000,

(1) How many students like cricket ?
(2) How many students like football ?
(3) How many students prefer other games ?

Sum

Solution

(1)
Number of students like cricket = `("Central angle for cricket" )/(360°) xx `Total number of students

`= (81°)/(360°) xx 1000`

= 225

Hence, 225 students like cricket.

(2)
Number of students like football  = `("Central angle for football" )/(360°) xx `Total number of students

`= (63°)/(360°) xx 1000`

= 175
Hence, 175 students like football.

(3)
Number of students like other games = `("Central angle for other games " )/(360°) xx `Total number of students

`= (72°)/(360°) xx 1000`

=200

Hence, 200 students like other games.
