Question

A water pump raises 80 kg of water through a height of 20 m in 10 s. Calculate the power of the pump.
Numerical

Solution

Given, mass of water = 80 kg

height = 20 m

g = 10 ms-2

time taken = 10s

Work done = mgh = 80 x 10 x 20 = 16000 J

Power = `"work done"/"time taken" = 16000/10 = 1600 "watt"`
