Differences between a hamlet and a village are as follows:
- The size of the population is extremely limited in the hamlet. On the other hand, the size of the population is relatively large in the village.
- Most of the people living in the hamlet have the same type of occupation. For example, people living in Adivasi Pada (Tribal hamlet) are engaged in collecting forest produce for their livelihood. On the other hand, people in the village have different types of occupations such as farming, fishing, animal rearing, carpentry, etc.
- Hamlet is comparatively a scattered settlement. On the other hand, the village is a relatively nucleated settlement.
