Arrange the following in increasing order of \[\ce{pH}\].

\[\ce{KNO3 (aq), CH3COONa (aq), NH4Cl (aq), C6H5COONH4 (aq)}\]

\[\ce{NH4Cl < C6H5 < COONH4 < KNO3 < CH3COONa}\]

Salts of strong acid and strong base do not hydrolyse and form neutral solution thus, \[\ce{pH}\] will be nearly 7 of \[\ce{KNO3}\].

In sodium acetate, acetic acid remains unionised this results in increase in \[\ce{OH-}\] concentration and \[\ce{pH}\] will be more than 7. 

\[\ce{NH4Cl}\] ormed from weak base, \[\ce{NH4OH}\] and strong acid, \[\ce{HCl}\] in water dissociates completely, aq. ammonium ions undergo hydrolysis with water to form \[\ce{NH4OH}\] and \[\ce{H+}\] ions resulting in less \[\ce{pH}\] value.
